Limits can be confusing, but are there for your protection. We use two limit types:
- Payin - used when you add funds to your account through directly or via a subscription
- Ticket Stake - used when you purchase tickets yourself or via a subscription
We find the easiest way to explain this is through an example:
Jane has just joined the Scottish Children’s Lottery and has set up a Direct Debit for 2 lines per week, she has also decided that she can afford to spend up to £20 per month on Instant Win Games or Ad-Hoc lottery tickets. Jane calculates a sensible limit would be £30 per month as follows:
- £10 for subscriptions – some months have 5 Mondays so she allows 5 x £2
- £20 for ad-hoc play
For most Direct Debit payments, except your first payment, we request funds from your account on the 19th of the month, this can take up to 3 working days to appear on your statement so please ensure that the 3 working days have passed.
If 3 working days have passed then we may have been unable to collect money because you have not passed the age verification checks or the collection would exceed your payin limits. If no money has been taken from your account and you wish your Direct Debit to continue please take the following steps before the last Tuesday of the month:
- Log into your account
- Click your name at the top of the page
- Click top up
- Add enough funds to your account to cover the next month (this is 4 or 5 times the number of lines you have on)
Each Tuesday the system will purchase your subscription tickets and use these funds, then on the 19th of next month we will try and collect money from your account again so please ensure you have checked the limits so you don't need to top up manually next month.
If on a Tuesday you do not have enough funds in your account to purchase a ticket we will pause the subscription and send you an email.
First Direct Debit payments will be advised on your confirmation email.
AVOIDING LOTTERY SCAMS
Scammers use emails, phone calls or letters which try to trick you into thinking you've won a lottery prize and may use real or convincing company logos in their emails or letters.
They do this so that they can ask you for money to release the prize or for your personal details, which they can use to try to steal your identity.
If you are in any doubt about an email you have received, please do not select any links in it. Instead, type the website address directly into your browser.
It is not necessary to select links in emails we send to you to claim your prizes.
Remember that we will never ask you for money to release a prize and we do not give details of winning prize amounts in our emails.
USE EMAIL SAFELY
- Do not open emails which you suspect as being scams.
- Do not forward emails which you suspect as being scams.
- Do not open attachments from unknown sources.
AVOIDING FRAUD
- Do not pay money to anyone who claims you've won.
- Do not give your details to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
- Do not select links in unsolicited emails - even if they use a real company's name or logo.
- You cannot win a lottery unless you have entered. You must be a player of Scottish Children’s Lottery to win a prize with us.
- If you are unsure about any communication you receive, please call our Customer Service Team on freephone number0330 1233951 or email us on help@scottishchildrenslottery.com and we will be happy to advise.
