We’re proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of Fostering Compassion a unique and powerful charity supporting some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children.
With a £1,000 grant from the Bright Futures Fund, made possible by the Scottish Children's Lottery and funding partners The Scotto and the Jackpot Community Trust we’re helping them continue their life-changing humane education workshops, and the difference they make is profound.For children who’ve experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse, some in foster or kinship care, some on the cusp of care, building compassion and emotional understanding can be challenging. That’s where Fostering Compassion steps in.
Through rescued animal stories and therapy animal sessions, children learn to recognise shared emotions, understand empathy, and develop tools to cope with their own experiences. Whether it's a Memory Jar, a Worry Tree, or simply spending time with a gentle animal friend, these workshops provide children with a safe space to heal, grow, and feel seen.
Many of the children supported may not otherwise access these kinds of experiences, often coming from areas affected by poverty, addiction, and neurodevelopmental challenges like Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). What this charity provides isn’t just emotional education, it’s hope, confidence, and a vital sense of belonging.
